An Italian Dictionary for Ispell
Marco Roveri developed and maintains an affix file and a
dictionary for
the Italian language for International
Ispell. They are available via http at the site http://sra.itc.it/people/roveri in the directory
ispell
where you can also find a Makefile
to build the hash file.
The Affix table is a first cut at a description of the common affixes found in the
Italian language. It is definitely not final. This the equivalent of a pre-alpha
version.
The dictionary is not complete either.
This is a starting point. I would appreciate you informing me of errors that
you find in the dictionary and also worthwhile additional words that should be
added. Thus I am requesting you to assist in raising the accuracy of this
dictionary.
Please send bug reports or lists of additional words to
.
What is Ispell? Where can you find it?
International Ispell is an interactive spell-checking program for Unix
which supports a large number of European languages. Ispell is a fast
screen-oriented spelling checker that shows you your errors in the
context of the original file, and suggests possible corrections when
it can figure them out. Compared to UNIX spell, it is faster and much
easier to use. Ispell can also handle languages other than English.
Ispell is a very old program.
The current
release (with international support) has been created and
maintained by Geoff Kuenning.
Installation Instructions

Disclaimer
Use at your own risk. In principle, not many wrong spellings will be
accepted, but since it is so preliminary, ispell will complain about
many, many words.
