A brief CV

I was born in Trento the 23rd May 1964. In 1988 I received the master degree in Computer Science at the Computer Science Department of the University of Milan, with a thesis in the area of logics for knowledge representation and reasoning in multi agent systems. My supervisor was Prof. A. Marcja. (department of Mathematics of the University of Trento) and Prof. M. Ornaghi (department of Computer Science of the University of Milan). Since 1989 I work at IRST in the Mechanized Reasoning Group leaded by F. Giunchiglia.

Projects

Distributed Ontological Reasoning. The goal of this proget is to build a theory and a system, called DRAGO, for distributed reasoning with multiple ontologies connected via semantic mappings.
Semantic coordination We have developed an algorithm called CTXMATCH-2 which is capable to compute semantical relation between the nodes of two heterogeneous hierarchies of concepts with attributes

Knowledge Web European Project The mission of Knowledge Web is to strengthen the European industry and service providers in one of the most important areas of current computer technology: Semantic web enabled e-work andmerce. We will concentrate our efforts around the outreach of this technology to industry. Naturally, this includes education and research efforts to ensure the durability of impact and support of industry.
ONTOTEXT Within the new research area of Ontology-Based Knowledge Extraction, ONTOTEXT intends to address three key research aspects: (i) annotating documents with semantic and relational information, e.g. properties and facts in which entities are involved (Knowledge Markup); (ii) providing an adequate degree of interoperability of such relational information, with particular attention to the temporal dimension (Knowledge Extraction); and (iii) updating and extending the ontologies used for Semantic Web annotation (Ontology Learning).
